Fatal Crash on Interstate Katy Freeway; One Killed

Katy, Texas (March 23, 2017) – One person was fatally injured in a deadly traffic collision that shut down Interstate 10 Katy Freeway Monday mid-morning, according to a police report.
The accident took place in the northbound lanes of the Katy Freeway near Pin Oak and Katy Mills Mall.
According to Katy police, officers responded to the scene and found one vehicle on fire. One person was declared dead at the accident scene.
The manner in which the accident occurred was not immediately established.
The crash led to the closure of the lanes from mid-morning to about 1:30 p.m.
Reports said that at least two vehicles were involved in the accident.
The name of the victim was not immediately available.
The cause of the accident remained under investigation.
