Officer Hospitalized after Lubbock Crash on 50th Street,

Lubbock, Texas (June 28, 2019) – An officer was injured Thursday night in a traffic accident in Lubbock, authorities said.

The crash was reported at about 10:40 p.m. Thursday, June 27 in the 5100 block of 50th Street.

According to the authorities, an SUV was pulling out of a parking lot on the south side of 50th Street when it struck a patrol that was traveling eastbound on 50th Street.

The officer sustained minor injuries and was transported to University Medical Center.

The driver of the SUV did not stop at the scene and fled westbound on Slide Road, then went north on Slide.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
