Derril Glen Lovelace ID’d as Man Killed in Austin Pedestrian Crash at Metric Boulevard and W. Parmer Lane
Austin, Texas (August 17, 2019) – The man who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Monday evening in North Austin has been identified as Derril Glen Lovelace, 54, according to police.
The crash happened at about 5:09 p.m. Monday, August 12, on Metric Boulevard and W. Parmer Lane.
Police said a 2014 Jeep Patriot traveling east on Parmer Lane tried to swerve to avoid a Hyundai Veloster stopped for a red light at Metric Boulevard. The Jeep clipped the Hyundai, then jumped the curb and struck Lovelace who was standing in the area.
Lovelace was taken to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
