Arhya Mitchell, 8, Hurt in Nederland Pedestrian Accident on 21st Street

Nederland, Texas (May 7, 2019) – A girl sustained major injuries in an accident where she was hit by a vehicle on Monday afternoon in Nederland, according to police.
The collision, which took place around 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 6, occurred on 21st Street.
Police said Arhya Mitchell, 8, of Nederland, was watching her friend compete at the Bulldog Stadium when she decided to walk across 21st Street to her sister’s. In the process, she was hit by an SUV that was traveling northbound on 21st Street.
Mitchell sustained major injuries and was taken to a local hospital, after which she was airlifted to a Houston hospital. The report showed that she was listed in critical, but stable condition.
No details were provided on the driver of the vehicle involved.
The crash remains under investigation.
