Dallas, Texas (December 1, 2017) – A 56-year-old woman was struck and killed while rescuing a victim of another crash in Southeast Dallas on Thursday night, according to a police report.
Theresa Ware, 56, of Mesquite, was killed in the fatal crash that happened at around 11:45 p.m. Thursday, November 30 on U.S. 175 at South Great Trinity Forest Way.
Police said a man was driving on U.S.  175 when his car started to fishtail and crashed into a guardrail on the eastbound lanes then came to rest in the middle of the highway.
Ware was among drivers who stopped to get the victim out of the car and then led him to the center median.
Ware went back to the victim’s car to get his details, and as she was retrieving the man’s documents, she was struck by a Ford truck passing by.
Ware was transported in critical condition to Baylor Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Ford truck remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
The driver of the car that crashed into the guardrail was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
