Steve Martinez Killed in Semi-Truck Accident on Interstate 10 in Baytown

Steve Martinez ID’d as Victim Killed in Baytown Crash on Interstate 10

Baytown, Texas (June 29, 2019) – Steve Martinez, 60, has been identified as the driver who was killed early Thursday morning in a traffic accident in Baytown.

The deadly crash happened at about 3:40 a.m. Thursday, June 27 on Interstate 10.

Authorities said a car was traveling on Interstate 10 when for an unknown reason it was hit by a semi-truck. The force of the impact caused the car to spin around and came to a stop facing east in the westbound lane.

The driver of a second semi-truck came around the crash and swerved to miss the car, causing the 18-wheeler to crash through the guardrail before crashing into the San Jacinto River.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and worked for over 24-hours to find the truck driver. As the crews lift the semi-truck out of the water, they located Martinez in the cab of the truck.

Martinez suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No further details were immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation.
