Three Killed in Deadly Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 83 in Concho County

Concho County, Texas (December 31, 2017) – Three people were on Friday morning killed in a deadly crash on U.S. 83 in Concho County, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported.
The accident took place at around 10:53 a.m. Friday, December 29, on U.S. 83 near the Concho-Menard county line, south of Eden.
According to DPS, Jasus Ruben Villegas, 24, of San Antonio, was driving a 2008 Ram pickup northbound on U.S. 83 when he lost control of the vehicle and drifted into the southbound lane. The Ram collided head-on with a southbound 2004 Nissan Maxima, driven by Linda Faye Rusell, 58, of Doole.
Russell and her two passengers, Jennifer Lynn Gonzales, 30, of Doole; and Simon Rivas III, 36, of Eden, were killed in the crash.
DPS said Rusell had her seatbelt on, but her passengers didn’t have theirs on.
Villegas was wearing a seatbelt and was hospitalized with incapacitating injuries.
The crash is under investigation.
