Jason Cruz Killed in Bicycle Accident on Mile 16 N Road in Hidalgo County
Hidalgo County, Texas (December 19, 2017) – A teenage bicyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle Thursday evening on Mile 16 North Road, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The victim, Jason Isis Cruz, 14, of Elsa, died in the accident that occurred at around 6:50 p.m. Thursday, December 14, on FM 88 and Mile 16 North Road.
Cruz was riding a bicycle eastbound on Mile 16 N. Road when he was knocked down by a Ford F-150 pickup truck, the report stated.
Cruz was rushed to Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, where he was pronounced deceased.
The truck driver was not hurt and remained the scene.
The crash is under investigation.
