Infant, Two Others Injured in Car Crash on Guava Avenue in Lubbock

Lubbock, Texas (August 9, 2018) – An infant was hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash which also injured two other people Wednesday evening in Lubbock, according to a local news source.
The accident occurred at about 5 p.m. August 8, in the 1800 block of Guava Avenue at the intersection with East 19th Street.
Police said a Ford pickup truck was stopped at a red light in the southbound Guava Avenue when it was rear-ended by a southbound Chevrolet TrailBlazer.
The force of the impact sent both vehicles across the intersection. The TrailBlazer continued traveling off the roadway and stopped after hitting a tree.
A three-month-old infant in the TrailBlazer suffered serious injuries and was transported to UMC. Two other occupants in the TrailBlazer, a 19-year-old woman, and a 15-year-old girl, sustained minor injuries in the crash. It appears the girl was holding the baby in the front right passenger seat when the accident happened.
The truck driver was uninjured.
The Lubbock Police Department is investigating the crash.
