Travis County, Texas (June 16, 2018) – The motorcyclist who was killed Tuesday evening in an accident in Travis County has been identified as Brian Jeffrey Hastings, 64, of San Antonio, authorities said.
The deadly accident took place at about 4:13 p.m. Tuesday, June 12 in the eastbound lanes of the 4400 block of Texas 71 East, near Ross Road.
According to the authorities, Hastings had pulled his Harley-Davidson motorcycle onto the road when for unknown reasons he slammed into a 2007 Volkswagen Golf, causing the driver to pull her vehicle off to the left side of the road.
The Hastings’ motorcycle then continued to cross the two lanes of the highway and came to a rest in front of the semi truck, which did not stop quick enough to miss striking Hastings. Hastings and his motorcycle were dragged for a short distance under the truck.
Hasting was declared dead at 4:29 p.m.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

The information for this blog post was obtained from public media and is for informational purposes.  No attorney-client relationship is established unless the law firm is formally retained. We understand this is a difficult time for the family of those affected by a tragic accident, and we offer our sincere sympathies.  While the thought of hiring a law firm may not feel appropriate at this time, as a public service we like to advise that in some cases it may be important to immediately begin securing evidence (such as photos of skid marks and property damage) and witness statements before it’s too late.
