2 Children, 5 People Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on East Loop 820 in Fort Worth

Fort Worth, Texas (May 5, 2018) – Two children and five other people were hospitalized Friday morning after a multi-car accident in Fort Worth, authorities said.
According to a police report, the collision happened at around 11:15 a.m. Friday, May 5 in the 2900 block of East Loop 820, south of Meadowbrook Drive.
An 18-wheeler was involved in a collision with three cars, causing one to overturn.
Police said one vehicle, occupied by two adults and two children, collided with the 18-wheeler, causing the car to lose control and travel into the median. The children were thrown from the vehicle along with debris.
Some of the debris went into oncoming traffic and hit a dump truck, which caused the driver to slam on his brakes. A vehicle traveling behind the dump truck caused a second collision when it rear-ended the dump truck.
Police said one child sustained serious injuries. At least one child was thrown to the northbound side of the freeway.
The two children were transported to Cook Children’s Medical Center, while two other victims were taken to Texas Health Harris Hospital in Fort Worth and three others were transported to John Peter Smith Hospital.
According to paramedics, of the seven hospitalized, one patient was listed in critical condition, two were listed in serious condition and four were sustained minor injuries.
The collision remains under investigation by police.
