Polk County, Texas (May 5, 2018) – One person was killed and two other people were injured in a two-car accident Friday afternoon in Polk County, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety report.
The collision happened at around 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 4 in the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 59 about two miles north of Corrigan.
According to the DPS report, a 2003 Ford pickup was heading northbound on U.S. Highway 59 when the vehicle reportedly hydroplaned and slid through the grass median and crashed into a southbound 2013 Hyundai passenger car.
The driver of the Hyundai was taken to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Lufkin and their passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by a Polk County Justice of the peace.
The driver of the pickup was also transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Livingston for treatment.
The names of the victims have not been released pending identification and notification of next of kin.
An investigation into the deadly accident is ongoing.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

The information for this blog post was obtained from public media and is for informational purposes.  No attorney-client relationship is established unless the law firm is formally retained. We understand this is a difficult time for the family of those affected by a tragic accident, and we offer our sincere sympathies.  While the thought of hiring a law firm may not feel appropriate at this time, as a public service we like to advise that in some cases it may be important to immediately begin securing evidence (such as photos of skid marks and property damage) and witness statements before it’s too late.
