Driver Killed in Kaufman County Crash on U.S. Highway 175 at Ashley Road
Kaufman, Texas (September 13, 2018) – A driver was killed Wednesday afternoon in a collision involving an 18-wheeler and a pickup truck in Kaufman, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The deadly accident happened on Wednesday, September 12 on westbound U.S. Highway 175, just north of the Kemp city limits at Ashley Road.
Details of how the crash occurred were not available, but the pickup truck was wedged beneath the trailer of the 18-wheeler as a result of the collision.
The unidentified driver of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased at the scene.
As of 2:00 p.m., eastbound U.S. Highway 175 was open and westbound U.S. Highway 175 was limited to one lane.
According to investigators, the driver of the 18-wheeler was driving unlicensed and didn’t have a commercial drivers license to operate the 18-wheeler.
The investigators are working to determine who turned into who as both vehicles were traveling in opposite directions on U.S. Highway 175 as they approached Ashley Road.
