Woman Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash at Ridgemont Drive and Rebecca Lane in Abilene

Abilene, Texas (May 7, 2018) – A woman was hospitalized Saturday afternoon after her vehicle collided with a City of Abilene animal control truck while attempting to turn out of a gas station in Abilene, according to an Abilene Police Department report.
The collision happened on Saturday, May 5 at the corner of Ridgemont Drive and Rebecca Lane.
According to the Abilene Police Department report, a woman was driving a white 4-door Honda sedan with an Arrowhead Delivery sign on its roof when she tried to turn left onto Rebecca Lane out of the Texaco station located at the corner of Ridgemont Drive and Rebecca Lane.
When the woman thought that she had caught enough of a break in a steady flow of traffic to turn left safely, she attempted to make a left turn onto Rebecca Lane and was hit by a Ford F-250 serving as an animal control truck for the City of Abilene, which was traveling in the left lane.
The woman sustained minor injuries and was transported to Hendrick Medical Center for treatment while the driver of the City of Abilene animal control truck was not injured.
There were no animals inside of the animal control truck at the time of the accident.
Police said the woman would possibly be charged with failure to yield right-of-way while turning out of a private road or driveway.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

We understand this is a difficult time for the family of those affected by a tragic accident, and we offer our sincere sympathies.  While the thought of hiring a law firm may not feel appropriate at this time, as a public service we like to advise that in some cases it may be important to immediately begin securing evidence (such as photos of skid marks and property damage) and witness statements before it’s too late.
