Two Injured in Chain Reaction Crash in Wise County

Wise County, Texas (January 6, 2018) – Two people were injured following a chain reaction in Wise County Wednesday Morning, according to Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash took place at about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, on Highway 287.
According to DPS, a woman and her cat were traveling northbound Highway 287 when she became destructed by the pet, leading her to crash into the center guardrail. The driver then drove onto the right shoulder; a trooper and a witness following close behind.
A semi-truck traveling northbound on Highway 287 then shifted lanes to avoid the parked vehicles, leading the Semi to crash onto the damaged guardrail exposed into the far left lane.
The impact sent the semi smashing through the median and into the south lanes where it was hit by an oncoming SUV, authorities said.
Both the truck and SUV driver were taken to the area hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries. No other people were injured in the crash.
It was not immediately known what citations would be issued to the woman.
The crash remains under investigation.
