Abilene, Texas (May 14, 2018) – Authorities have released the identity of an Abilene woman who was critically injured in a four-car accident on Loop 322 Friday night.
According to the Abilene police department, the accident happened just before 11:00 p.m. Friday, May 11 on Loop 322 at the Hills Street off-ramp.
According to the police, 16-year-old Nathaniel Jones of Abilene, was driving a white 2002 Nissan Maxima eastbound on Loop 322 when he went across the grass median, and into westbound lanes at the Hills Street off-ramp.
There the Nissan crashed into a red 2016 Ford F-150 operated by 30-year-old Abilene woman, Nicole Lee.
Moments after the crash, the F-150 spun around and was struck by a silver 2006 Chevy Silverado pickup truck, driven by a 40-year-old Lubbock woman. The Maxima also crashed with a maroon 2006 Ford Fusion driven by a 17-year-old Abilene boy.
Lee was transported to Hendrick Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. As of 2:15 a.m. she was in critical condition, police said.
Jones was also transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The westbound lanes of Loop 322 were shut down at the Hill Street off-ramp for several hours and were reopened around 2 a.m.
The Abilene Police Department is investigating the crash.
