Michelle Rodriguez and Jose Portillo among Four Hospitalized after Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 10 in Orange County

Michelle Rodriguez, Jose Portillo and 2 Others Injured in Orange County Crash on Interstate 10 at Purple Heart Memorial Bridge
Orange County, Texas (October 30, 2018) – Four people were hospitalized after a multi-vehicle collision in Orange County early Saturday morning, according to a statement released by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The wreck took place at around 3:45 a.m. Saturday, October 27 on Interstate 10 at the Purple Heart Memorial Bridge.
According to reports, a 2000 Toyota Corolla, driven by Jose Portillo, 20, of Houston, was heading westbound on Interstate 10 followed by a commercial motor vehicle auto hauler while a 2013 Chrysler passenger vehicle, operated by Michelle Rodriguez, 44, of Orange, was traveling eastbound on the westbound traffic lanes of the interstate.
The Chrysler then collided head-on with the Toyota. The Chrysler was then hit by the commercial motor vehicle operated by Ramon Perez, 54, of Florida.
The force of the impact sent the commercial motor vehicle into a side-skid that caused the vehicle to jackknife, blocking all westbound traffic lanes.
Rodriguez sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital while Portillo and his two passengers were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Perez and his passenger were taken to a local hospital for medical checkup.
All westbound traffic lanes of Interstate 10, near Rose City, were shut down for approximately four hours.
The lanes were later reopened. An investigation into the crash is underway.
