Michael Babineaux Fatal Car Crash on Texas 71 in Lakeway

Michael Babineaux ID’d as Marble Falls Doctor Killed in Lakeway Two-Vehicle Crash on Texas 71 near Serene Hills Drive
Lakeway, Texas (November 2, 2018) – The Baylor Scott & White Specialty Clinic-Marble Falls physician who was killed on Monday in a two-vehicle crash in Lakeway has been identified as Michael James Babineaux, 36, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The fatal collision happened at an unspecified time, October 29, on Texas 71 near Serene Hills Drive.
DPS said, a 2007 Nissan Titan operated by Cameron James O’Connell, 29, of Austin, was traveling westbound in the inside lane of Texas 71 when it moved into the center turn lane in a try to pass another vehicle in front of it.
O’Connell lost control of the Nissan and went into a side skid before slamming into a 2018 BMW X3 driven by Babineaux who was in the outside eastbound lane of Texas 71.
Babineaux, who was a gastroenterologist at the Marble Falls clinic, died at the scene.
O’Connell was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
