Mark Powell ID’d as Man Killed in Orange County Motorcycle Accident on Texla Road near State Highway 62

Orange County, Texas (September 15, 2018) – The Vidor man who was killed in a fatal crash between a vehicle and a motorcycle in Orange County on Friday morning has been identified as 30-year-old Mark Everett Powell, according to the DPS.
The accident happened at around 10 a.m. on Friday, September 14 on Texla Road west of Highway 62.
DPS said Powell was riding a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle westbound on Texla Road when he crashed into the rear of a 2017 Chevrolet Pickup truck that slowed down to make a left turn into a private driveway.
Powell was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The pickup truck was being operated by a 39-year-old man, who was not injured in the crash.
The crash caused a closure of the eastbound and westbound lanes of FM 2802 as the scene was cleared.
The DPS is investigating the crash.
