Luis Valdez Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on SH 176 in Martin County

Martin County, Texas – A man was killed Friday evening in a wrong-way crash in Martin County, according to the DPS.

The deadly accident happened around 7:50 p.m., May 24, on SH 176, near mile marker 278.

DPS said 25-year-old Luis Valdez, of Andrews, was driving a Mercedes C43 eastbound in the westbound lane at a high rate of speed when he crashed head-on into a westbound semi-truck.

Valdez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The semi-truck driver was uninjured in the crash.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
