Isaiah Gonzalez Killed, 3 Injured in Crash with Fire Truck on I-20 in Eastland County
Eastland County, Texas (January 23, 2018) – Police have released the name of the boy killed on Saturday morning in a crash involving a fire truck in Eastland County.
According to DPS, Isaiah Gonzalez, 11, of Abilene, died in the incident that took place shortly before 7 a.m. on Interstate 20 near Mile Marker 335, east of Cisco.
DPS said a car hauler was traveling eastbound on Interstate 20 when it overturned and blocked both lanes of the interstate.
An SUV traveling eastbound was stopped in the traffic when it was rear-ended by a Pierce Fire Truck. The impact pushed the SUV off the shoulder of the roadway, where it rolled over into a ditch before being engulfed in flames.
Gonzalez was riding in the SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and another passenger in the Gonzalez vehicle were taken to Eastland Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the fire truck was also transported to a hospital with unknown injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

The information for this blog post was obtained from public media and is for informational purposes. No attorney-client relationship is established unless the law firm is formally retained. We understand this is a difficult time for the family of those affected by a tragic accident, and we offer our sincere sympathies. While the thought of hiring a law firm may not feel appropriate at this time, as a public service we like to advise that in some cases it may be important to immediately begin securing evidence (such as photos of skid marks and property damage) and witness statements before it’s too late.
