Irma Cerda Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on FM 491 in Mercedes

Irma Cerda ID’d as Person Killed in Mercedes Car Accident on FM 491 near Mile 10 Road
Mercedes, Texas (March 25, 2019) – The person who was killed Saturday night in a two-car crash near Mercedes has been identified as Irma Cerda, 28, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The fatal accident took place at around 8:41 p.m. Saturday, March 23 on FM 491, just north of Mile 10 Road.
The DPS said a Nissan Sentra driven by Cerda, was heading southbound on FM 491 when for an unknown reason it drifted onto the northbound lane, where it collided with a red Dodge Ram that was traveling northbound.
Cerda was pronounced dead at the scene. The Dodge driver was taken to McAllen Medical Center.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
