4 Critically Injured After Car Crashes into West Side Bus Stop on Culebra Road in San Antonio

San Antonio, Texas (August 29, 2018) – A 28-year-old woman and three other pedestrians were critically injured Tuesday morning when a driver lost control of his car and crashed into a  West Side bus stop in San Antonio, authorities said.
The accident happened at about 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, August 28 on Culebra Road at North Zarzamora Street.
According to the authorities, the driver was heading westbound on Culebra Road when he swerved across oncoming traffic and clipped a concrete embankment around the perimeter of a bus stop, where four people, including the pregnant woman, were sitting.
Authorities said the vehicle then struck the corner of the bus area and then basically glides past all the people that were waiting on the bus bench, hitting them.
As a result of the crash, the vehicle, a 2001 Nissan Maxima, came to a rest a few yards down from the bus stop, with its front half on top of the concrete embankment and its back half on the sidewalk.
The pregnant woman was found bleeding from her head. She was then taken to a hospital where she was listed in serious condition.
Three other pedestrians were also taken to a hospital where they were listed in stable condition. The unidentified driver was transported to University Hospital with minor injuries.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
