2 Killed, 4 Injured in Suspected Drunk Driving Crash on I-40 in Amarillo
Amarillo, Texas (February 8, 2018) – Two people were killed in a deadly two-vehicle crash that left four others hospitalized and another arrested for suspected DUI on Wednesday morning in Amarillo.
The accident happened near the intersection of Interstate 40 and Pullman Road at about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 7.
According to Amarillo Police Department, Adam Banbury, 19, was driving a pickup truck eastbound along Interstate 40 when he rear-ended a van.
The impact caused the van to travel off the side of the road, running down an embankment where it overturned and caught fire.
A 50-year-old man and an 11-year-old girl riding in the van were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Four other occupants of the van were transported to a hospital. Three of them were said to be in critical condition.
Banbury was taken into custody for charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault, police said.

The information for this blog post was obtained from public media and is for informational purposes. No attorney-client relationship is established unless the law firm is formally retained. We understand this is a difficult time for the family of those affected by a tragic accident, and we offer our sincere sympathies. While the thought of hiring a law firm may not feel appropriate at this time, as a public service we like to advise that in some cases it may be important to immediately begin securing evidence (such as photos of skid marks and property damage) and witness statements before it’s too late.
