12-Year-Old Boy Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Westheimer Road in Briarforest

Briarforest, Texas – A 12-year-old boy was killed early Friday morning after a police chase ended in a multi-vehicle crash in Briarforest, according to the Houston Police Department.

The fatal crash happened around 10:15 p.m., May 10, in the 10600 block of Westheimer Road near the Beltway.

Police said five boys between 12 and 13 years old were inside a grey Hyundai Sonata that was reported stolen and officers started pursuing them around 10:00 p.m. When they saw the officers, the boys kept driving after crashing into another car on Richmond Avenue. They then crashed into another vehicle on Kirkwood Road and kept driving. Officers continued to follow them, trying to get the suspects to pull the car over. The boys swerved to avoid a METRO bus, lost control, and crashed into three cars, a silver Infiniti G37, a white Nissan Rogue, and a green Toyota Camry, on Westheimer Road.

Four boys (all believed to be black males) fled the scene on foot.

A fifth boy was found unresponsive in the vehicle and was taken to the hospital where he later died. He has only been identified as a 12-year-old.

Two of the boys who fled the scene were caught by the officers.

One of the suspects who attempted to evade on foot was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation.
