Tyler, Texas (December 28, 2017) – A child was killed and 3 other victims hospitalized following a 3-vehicle collision in Tyler Wednesday evening, troopers said.
The deadly crash happened at about 5:37 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, on SH 64W near CR 423
According to Department of Public Safety Troopers, a maroon 2004 Jeep Liberty, driven by 36-year-old Tyler man, was traveling west on SH 64W in the left lane when, for an unknown reason, it drove into the right lane, hitting a red 1996 Mazda Protege. The jeep had four child occupants, they both suffered unspecified injuries and were taken by an ambulance to East Texas Medical center in Tyler for treatment where an 11-month-old child was later declared dead.
The driver of the Toyota, a 43-year-old Tyler man, was also taken East Texas Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
No other injuries were reported in the crash.
The roadway was temporarily shut down as a result of the incident but has reportedly reopened.
No other details regarding the crash were immediately available, but an investigation remained underway.
