Cameron County, Texas (June 3, 2018) – A 34-year-old San Benito resident was killed in a hit-and-run collision Friday night in Cameron County, according to Texas Department of Public Safety.
The fatal wreck occurred at about 10:45 p.m. Friday, June 1, on Farm-to-Market Road 1846.
According to the DPS, three people were riding in a black Ford Fusion and were traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when the vehicle rear-ended a red Honda passenger vehicle driven by Jeniffer Elizabeth Naranjo.
The impact of the collision reportedly sent the Honda into the northbound lane where a white northbound Chrysler van again hit it.
Naranjo was declared deceased at the incident scene. Two passengers of the Honda suffered non-life threatening injuries and were both transported to an area hospital for treatment, the DPS said.
The report said the driver of the Chrysler was also taken to an area hospital with injuries. The driver and the passengers of the Ford fled the incident scene.
An investigation into the deadly crash is ongoing.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

The information for this blog post was obtained from public media and is for informational purposes.  No attorney-client relationship is established unless the law firm is formally retained. We understand this is a difficult time for the family of those affected by a tragic accident, and we offer our sincere sympathies.  While the thought of hiring a law firm may not feel appropriate at this time, as a public service we like to advise that in some cases it may be important to immediately begin securing evidence (such as photos of skid marks and property damage) and witness statements before it’s too late.
