Beaumont, TX – A Port Arthur man was killed in a three-vehicle collision Friday morning near Beaumont, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal accident happened at about 11:40 a.m. on February 27 on Interstate 10.

DPS said a truck-tractor semi-trailer and a van were stopped in the eastbound lanes due to an earlier accident. An eastbound Ford pickup failed to control its speed and rear-ended the van. The force of the impact pushed the van into the rear of the semi-trailer.

The Ford driver, James Shelnut, 43, died at the scene.

The drivers of the semi-truck and the van were uninjured in the accident.

The troopers are investigating the accident.
