Laurence Banks Dies in Wood County Car Crash on SH 37

Wood County, Texas (November 15, 2018) – One person was killed when two vehicles collided on Tuesday afternoon in Wood County, according to the DPS.
The fatal collision was reported on SH 37, approximately 2.1 miles south of Quitman City on Tuesday, November 13.
DPS said Dawson Emory Sims, 19, of Quitman, was traveling southbound on Sh 37 when he failed to control his speed and crashed into a Dodge Ram that was stopped waiting to turn left into a private drive.
The impact of the crash pushed both vehicles into a ditch on the west side.
The driver of the Dodge, Laurence Dale Banks, 64, of Quitman, was taken to a local hospital with major injuries. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
It’s unclear whether there were other injuries.
The DPS is investigating the incident.
