Sam Lively was ejected from the bike and was transported to the hospital where he later died
Tyler, TX. – An off-duty police officer died in a motorcycle accident on Friday evening in Tyler.
According to the Tyler Police Department, the accident happened on Troup Highway near Loop 323.
Officer Sam Lively was riding a motorcycle south on Troup Highway in the outside lane when he collided with another car that changed lanes.
Lively was ejected from the bike and was transported to the hospital where he later died.
The driver of the car stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
More details about the accident were not immediately available.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
