The deadly accident happened at around 2:42 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in in the 1100 block of U.S. Highway 59 South.
Timpson, TX – One person was killed and another was injured following a major two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 59 South near Timpson Wednesday afternoon.
The deadly accident happened at around 2:42 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in in the 1100 block of U.S. Highway 59 South.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, an iinitial investigation revealed that a silver Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck was traveling northbound, while a white Freightliner box truck was heading south on Highway 59.
Austhorities said there was heavy rain in the area and the Ram hydroplaned and traveled into the oncoming traffuc lane where it collided with the Freightliner.
One driver was trapped in the wreckage and was extricated by the Timpson Volunteer Fire Department personnel.
DPS troopers say the driver of the Dodge ram was pronounced dead at the scene by Tracy Broadway, Justice of the Peace for Precinct 5.
The driver of the Freightliner sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Nacogdoches Medical Center.
The incident remains under investigation.
