Chengiu Huo, Taron Gipson, Huixiang Zhang Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on SH 158 in Runnels County, July 31
Runnels County, Texas (August 3, 2018) – A deadly two-vehicle collision left three people dead on Tuesday afternoon in Runnels County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash occurred at around 1:18 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31 on SH 158.
According to a preliminary investigation, Taron Lamar Gipson, 22, of Calvert, was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze southbound on SH 158 when he drifted off the east shoulder of the roadway. He then traveled back into the highway and collided head-on with a northbound 2015 Ford Escape.
Two occupants of the Ford, the driver and one passenger, were both pronounced dead at the scene. The two were identified as Chengiu Huo, 51, of San Antonio and Huixiang Zhang, 46, of Houston. A 17-year-old male passenger was transported to Shannon Medical Center in serious condition.
Gipson was also taken to Shannon Medical, where he was pronounced deceased.
The DPS is investigating the crash.
