Man Seriously Injured in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Mitchell Road near Fieldworth Sunday night

Houston, Texas (July 2, 2018) – A pedestrian was struck and seriously injured by a vehicle Sunday night in north Houston, authorities said.
The accident occurred on Sunday, July 1 on Mitchell Road near Fieldworth.
According to the authorities, an allegedly drunken driver was traveling eastbound when he struck the male pedestrian who was on the side of the road near Fieldworth.
The driver then continued driving several blocks until the damage from the accident forced him to stop. He jumped out and fled on foot, getting the attention of several neighbors who told the authorities where he was.
The authorities took the driver into custody for DWI and intoxication assault charges.
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
