Hidalgo County, Texas (June 14, 2018) – The driver who was killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle collision in Mercedes has been identified as Crystal Anthony Arriaga, 30, of Raymondville, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The collision occurred just before 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 13 on FM 1425, north of Mile 12 North Road.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said a red Nissan Rogue, driven by Arriaga, was heading southbound on FM 1425 when for unknown reasons it veered off the roadway then back onto the northbound lane.
The Nissan then collided head-on with a GMC Sierra that was traveling northbound.
Arriaga was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the GMC Sierra was transported to Valley Baptist Hospital with unspecified injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.

The information for this blog post was obtained from public media and is for informational purposes.  No attorney-client relationship is established unless the law firm is formally retained. We understand this is a difficult time for the family of those affected by a tragic accident, and we offer our sincere sympathies.  While the thought of hiring a law firm may not feel appropriate at this time, as a public service we like to advise that in some cases it may be important to immediately begin securing evidence (such as photos of skid marks and property damage) and witness statements before it’s too late.
