3 Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-20 in Smith County

Smith County, Texas (May 23, 2018) – Three people were killed in a multi-vehicle collision on Wednesday in Smith County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Four vehicles were involved in the deadly crash that took place on Interstate 20.
DPS said a passenger car was heading west in the eastbound lanes of I-20 when it collided with an oncoming dually towing a flatbed trailer.
The driver of a 2012 Peterbilt truck-tractor heading east attempted to drift to the right to avoid the crash and crossed the center median into the westbound lanes. There the truck-tractor overturned and was struck by a truck-tractor towing tanker trailer.
The car driver died at the scene of the crash.
The drivers of the two semis were also killed in the accident.
The driver of the dually truck-tractor was treated for his injuries at the scene.
The accident is under investigation.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

The information for this blog post was obtained from public media and is for informational purposes.  No attorney-client relationship is established unless the law firm is formally retained. We understand this is a difficult time for the family of those affected by a tragic accident, and we offer our sincere sympathies.  While the thought of hiring a law firm may not feel appropriate at this time, as a public service we like to advise that in some cases it may be important to immediately begin securing evidence (such as photos of skid marks and property damage) and witness statements before it’s too late.
