Corpus Christi, Texas (February 17, 2018) –  According to authorities, a 29-year-old Corpus Christi woman was fatally injured in a collision with a wrong-way driver early Friday morning in Corpus Christi.
The fatal wreck occurred at around 12:48 p.m. Friday, south in the 6500 block of Interstate Highway 37 near Clarkwood.
Authorities said that Laurie Beth Reynolds, was driving south behind an 18-wheeler and a 12-passenger van was driving northbound in the southbound lanes in the wrong direction.
The 18-wheeler reportedly moved out of the van’s way, and the woman collided head-on with the van.
The impact caused the van to burst into flame, and the 30-year-old driver of the vehicle had to be pulled out by the police and transported to Christus Sphohn Hospital Shoreline with minor injuries.
Reynolds died as a result of the crash, according to Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The driver had reportedly been drinking and will be charged with intoxication manslaughter.

The information for this blog post was obtained from public media and is for informational purposes.  No attorney-client relationship is established unless the law firm is formally retained. We understand this is a difficult time for the family of those affected by a tragic accident, and we offer our sincere sympathies.  While the thought of hiring a law firm may not feel appropriate at this time, as a public service we like to advise that in some cases it may be important to immediately begin securing evidence (such as photos of skid marks and property damage) and witness statements before it’s too late.
