Child and Trooper Hospitalized after Austin Three-Vehicle Crash on MLK Boulevard

Austin, Texas (February 13, 2018) – A trooper and a child were transported to a hospital after a multi-vehicle crash involving a DPS vehicle and a school bus on Monday afternoon in Austin, according to Austin-Travis County Ems.
The three-vehicle accident occurred at about 4:43 p.m. Monday, February 12, at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Springdale Road.
A Department of Public Safety trooper was reportedly making a turn onto Springdale Road when their vehicle rear-ended an SUV. The DPS vehicle then hit a KIPP Austin school bus that was stopped at the intersection.
39 children were onboard the school bus. One child was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The DPS trooper was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center with serious injuries.
The driver of the SUV was treated for minor injuries.
The Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
