3 Drivers Injured in 4-Vehicle Crash on I-35 in Austin

Austin, Texas (February 5, 2018) — A four-car collision on Interstate 35 early Sunday morning left three drivers with injuries.
The accident took place at around 2:39 a.m. Sunday, February 4, near the 2000 block of I-35 in downtown Austin, near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
According to a witness report, a black Dodge Charger was traveling north when it veered and sideswiped a blue Dodge Avenger then struck two other vehicles.
The driver of the Dodge charger fled the scene headed south and was later located and identified as 23-year-old Juan Martin Ochoa.
Ochoa told police that he was following a vehicle in front of him too closely when he slammed on his break, swerved into a guardrail, veered back into the lane and hit the other car.
All the four vehicles were totaled, as per the report.
Three drivers sustained injuries, and two of the victims were taken to a hospital for treatment. One victim had dislocated shoulder, and severe back pain and the other suffered back pain.
Interstate 35 remained closed for around two hours as crews worked on the scene.

The information for this blog post was obtained from public media and is for informational purposes.  No attorney-client relationship is established unless the law firm is formally retained. We understand this is a difficult time for the family of those affected by a tragic accident, and we offer our sincere sympathies.  While the thought of hiring a law firm may not feel appropriate at this time, as a public service we like to advise that in some cases it may be important to immediately begin securing evidence (such as photos of skid marks and property damage) and witness statements before it’s too late.
