Jack County Deputy Critical after Pedestrian Crash on U.S. 380
Jack County, Texas (February 5, 2018) – A Jack County deputy was hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Sunday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash occurred at around 7 a.m. on U.S. 380 near U.S. 281, west of Jacksboro.
DPS said the deputy was at the scene of an earlier minor accident and was being assisted by a wrecker called to tow a vehicle.
The driver of an Infinity sedan heading west on U.S. 380 failed to see the intersection of U.S. 281 and skidded through into a ditch, where the vehicle struck the deputy and the wrecker.
The deputy was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.
The wrecker was transported to an area hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The driver of the sedan was also hospitalized with minor injuries.
DPS said heavy fog and wet conditions may have contributed to the crash.
There have been no charges filed as the crash is under investigation.

The information for this blog post was obtained from public media and is for informational purposes. No attorney-client relationship is established unless the law firm is formally retained. We understand this is a difficult time for the family of those affected by a tragic accident, and we offer our sincere sympathies. While the thought of hiring a law firm may not feel appropriate at this time, as a public service we like to advise that in some cases it may be important to immediately begin securing evidence (such as photos of skid marks and property damage) and witness statements before it’s too late.
