Joseph Michael Wood Killed in Archer County Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 16

Archer County, Texas (January 11, 2020) – One person was killed, and another was injured in a head-on collision Thursday afternoon in Archer County, according to the DPS.

The deadly crash took place around 5:20 p.m. on January 9, on Highway 16, northeast of Olney.

DPS said Joseph Michael Wood, 42, of Graham, was driving southbound on the highway while Spencer Smith of Polk, NE, was driving northbound.

Wood crossed the center line and crashed head-on into Smith’s vehicle.

Wood was pronounced dead at the scene. Smith sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
