One Killed, One Critically Injured in Head-On Crash on SH 243 in Van Zandt County

1 Killed and 1 Critically Injured in Van Zandt County Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 243

Van Zandt County, Texas (October 4, 2019) – One person was killed and another was critically injured in a head-on collision on Thursday at the Kaufman-Van Zandt County line, according to officials.

The crash took place on Thursday, October 3, occurred on State Highway 243.

Officials said the crash involved a car and a pickup truck.

Responding firefighters had to extricate the driver of the car. The victim was declared dead at the scene.

 The pickup driver was airlifted to a Dallas hospital with critical injuries.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
