Man Killed in Crash on LBJ Freeway in Dallas
Dallas, Texas (January 2, 2018) – A man was fatally struck, and a Good Samaritan injured in North Dallas early Monday morning police said.
The deadly crash took place at about 5:30 a.m. Monday, January 1, on the 7700 block of LBJ Freeway, between Hillcrest Road and Coit Road.
Police said a man was operating a Toyota Corolla when he hit a let median wall, and his car came to rest partially on the shoulder and partially in the inside lane.
The man then got out of his Corolla and was standing outside the vehicle when a Chevy Malibu struck him and the car. The man died at the scene, and a Good Samaritan who had stopped to render help to the driver suffered injuries to the arm and head lacerations, police said.
Authorities said an off-duty Garland firefighter had also stopped to assist the driver of the Corolla. Fortunately, he escaped injuries in the crash by jumping.
Police said the driver of the Malibu suffered minor injuries and was treated at the site and released pending a grand jury referral for criminally negligent homicide.
The identity of the victims was not immediately available.
