48-Year-Old Aubrey Woman Sandra Sanders Killed in Krum Crash at FM 1173 and Lovers Lane

Krum, Texas (November 17, 2017) – A 48-year-old Aubrey woman was killed Thursday morning in a deadly crash involving three cars near Krum, police said.
The deadly collision took place at about 7 a.m. Thursday, November 16, at FM 1173 and Lovers Lane, about 2 miles from Krum City limits in unincorporated Denton County.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety, a 41-year-old Krum woman was operating a 2000 Cadillac Escalade west on FM 1173. The Cadillac was being followed right behind by a 2014 Ford Fiesta driven by a 22-year-old man.
At the same time, Sandra Sanders, 48, was operating a 2002 Saturn Ion in the eastbound lane.
According to a police report, the Cadillac slowed to make a left turn onto Lovers Lane when the driver of the Ford Fiesta failed to control the speed of his vehicle for reasons still unclear, striking the Cadillac. The impact of the crash pushed the Cadillac into the eastbound lane, where it hit Sanders’s car.
Authorities said Sanders was declared deceased at the incident site while the driver of the Cadillac suffered serious injuries and was transported to Medical City Denton for treatment.
According to a report, the driver of the Ford Fiesta did not sustain serious injuries.
An investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
