Man Killed in 1200 Gulf Freeway Pedestrian Crash

Houston, Texas (October 3, 2017) – A male pedestrian was fatally struck in a collision on Monday at 1200 Gulf Freeway.
The fatal accident occurred at about 11:40 p.m. Monday, October 2, on south Interstate Highway 45.
According to a report, a male pedestrian was hit by a black Chevrolet Suburban while trying to cross several moving lanes of traffic. The responding Houston Fire Department paramedics declared the pedestrian dead at the accident scene.
An official reported that the Chevrolet driver fled the scene. However, the male driver called the police about 25 minutes later after he had fled the scene and when the police met him, he told police that he got lost while trying to return to the accident scene. The police, therefore, returned him to the crash site.
A test was conducted to determine the soberness of the driver and no drunkenness was observed.
There was no further information regarding the identity of the victim immediately provided.
There was no citation issued following the accident
An investigation into the fatal crash remained underway.
